LMTerm, in partnership with the Italian company Protec, validated, after tests carried out by the Biology Institute of the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), that the PVD ABACO®️ (AntiBActerial COating) coating, in addition to its bactericidal effects, is also effective against Coronavirus.
ABACO®️ can be used to cover metallic and non-metallic surfaces, such as doorknobs, bathroom metals, cutlery, and household utensils. “Can you imagine being able to press the elevator button without worrying? Open and close a door or faucet without being afraid of getting contaminated? The change is drastic in terms of technology and protection. Consequently, cross-contact transmission can be avoided.”
On account of its physical properties, ABACO®️ was recognized as the most advanced nanometric PVD bactericidal coating on the market. The technology was tested to be effective against virus strains like the Coronavirus MHV, Betacoronavirus genera (same genera and family as SARS-CoV-1, SARS-CoV-2 / COVID19, and MERS). The tests followed the international standard ISO-BS ISO 21702: 2019 (first edition 2019-05-27).
The ABACO®️ finish is also hypoallergenic and does not leave aesthetics aside: hardness, high color stability, and scratch resistance. It can be applied to ferrous and non-ferrous metals, polymers such as ABS and polycarbonate (after proper pretreatment).
Thin films in PVD and PECVD can be for decorative as well as functional use. The processes are innovative, and the equipment has characteristics that allow competitive technical solutions based on specific industry needs.
MORE – Protec has produced PVD-PECVD machines in Italy for over twenty years for applications in the decoration and technical industry. LMTerm is the company’s official representative in Latin America.
