LMTerm innovates and performs furnace assembly in an unprecedented way

Pandemic and closed borders. This scenario made LMTerm, a specialist in heat treatment technology from São José dos Campos, leave the obvious and reinvent itself to assemble a vacuum furnace in Colombia. The equipment sent from Italy arrived in Bogota in February and was waiting for the visit of technicians from the company joseense to go into operation.

“We thought that the closing of the borders would be temporary; however, that was not the case. So we had to devise a strategy so that the customer could be served”, said the company director, Luciano Micheletto, who stressed that he had never considered carrying out the work, full of details and highly technical, from miles away.

The business gathered a team and outlined a strategy to provide the vacuum furnace assembly service and meet the customer’s needs. “We calculated the risks and difficulties. The customer hired a team trained by LMTerm and, in 30 days, we performed all the work, without fail”, he celebrated.

The work gave the company a new look at remote equipment installation. “Before the pandemic, it was out of the question to conduct an installation this way. Like the entire industry, we were extremely protective of techniques and some information regarding the installation. The crisis has given us a new perspective. In addition, we are already studying new technologies to expand remote service.”

According to Luciano, the company is already studying augmented reality tools for customers in Chile, Argentina, Mexico, and Brazilian municipalities outside the State of São Paulo. “As a result, we were able even to reduce the cost of visits for Service Care and equipment assembly.”
For the customer, the experience was positive. “We are very pleased with the high-quality support provided by LMTerm for the assembly. The company gave us clear and reliable technical information. In addition, we had an active and direct communication that facilitated the understanding of our team on-site”, said quality manager Fabian Gomez.

According to Fabian, the investment in the furnace was made to replace current heat treatment processes. “We are looking for more productivity, high-quality standards, and environmentally friendly technology.”
